Japan Gift Bay Mini Hail #1~

japan gift bay 1

I found Japan Gift Bay while searching for an easy way to get the Pure Smile Snail lip treatments that everyone in the Memebox world raves about! If you’ve never heard of the site, they sell Japanese beauty products and are located in Japan. I know there are a lot of Hong Kong based Japanese beauty sites, but this one appealed to me because it is actually in Japan.

Above is the shipping envelope. Nothing too exciting! I was able to get two lip balms shipped airmail. The airmail shipping charge was only $3.90 for them. I think this is pretty darn reasonable! So, the shipping is great. I ordered it on the 14th. Shipped on the 15th. Got them on the 21st!! I think this is a new record for international shipping to me…

Pretties for the lips!
Pretties for the lips!

I purchased Canmake Lip Plumer and Pure Smile Snail Lip Treatment in chocolate!

canmake lip plumperCanmake lip plumper looks pinkish when coming out of the tube, but it goes on glossy and clear. I didn’t notice any tint. It does tingle a tiny bit, but the lip plumping effects are dubious. However, it is super moisturizing! It did amazing things to my lips, so I am very pleased with this product.

Pure Smile Snail Lip Treatment - Chocolate
Pure Smile Snail Lip Treatment – Chocolate

The Pure Smile Snail Lip Treatment comes in a super cute package! I picked the chocolate flavor because, well, chocolate. It is clear, but it has an amazing chocolate scent! I love that because while I’m wearing it, I smell chocolate. Though, it does make me want some chocolate! >__< It is even more moisturizing than the Canmake stuff. It just weirds me out a bit because of the snail thing, but hey, I’ll use it if it heals my crummy lips! The only thing is it feels strange on. I’m not sure how to describe it. It just feels kinda heavy, so I think I may only wear this at night. But it is fantastic!

So there it is! 😀 My very small haul! But I do recommend this store and I will be shopping there again really soon!

Graze Subscription Box Review

Current graze box!
Current graze box!

Graze is a subscription snack box. They send out 4 individually portioned snacks. You can pick to get the snacks every week, every two weeks, or once per month. I get the snacks every week because I love them! If you use a referral code, you get your 1st and 5th boxes for free. If you need a referral code, I’d appreciate if you’d use mine: DARRIN6PP

My Weekly Graze Snacks
My Weekly Graze Snacks

I always love my snacks, but I thought the assortment this week was particularly good!

  • Mocha Walnut Cake
  • Fruit & Seed Flapjack
  • Jelly Doughnut
  • Spicy Sriacha Peas
Graze Mocha Walnut Cake
Graze Mocha Walnut Cake

I am most excited for the Mocha Walnut Cake!

What I love most about Graze – the snacks are tasty and pretty healthy. I don’t have to think ahead about snacks to pack in my lunches because I get 4 snacks per week. Shipping is fast and they always charge on the same day. Calorie counts are always listed in the box and everything is super fresh.

What I don’t like – They have raised the price a couple of times. I use to get the boxes for $5. So, as  they raise the prices, the box becomes less appealing. At the current price, I still love it, but I don’t think I’d love it if it is raised again. The snacks aren’t quite as tasty as Nibblr, but they are much healthier!

Overall~ If you love to snack as I do, subscribe to Graze, or at least try out the first free box. I love snacking, so this sub is a no-brainer for me. I’ve been getting the snacks for over a year now and I still think they are fantastic!

disclaimer: this post contains a referral code, but I paid for this box myself!

Boxy Charm January 2015 Box Review

Boxy Charm January 2015
Boxy Charm January 2015

Boxy Charm is a beauty subscription boxes  that sends full-sized items for $21 per month, including shipping! I think this is a great deal because they tend to send pretty good brands! I’ve been admiring this box for awhile now, but just signed up for the January box. I figured it would be a good time to start. After seeing the Tarte spoiler, I knew I had to subscribe.

The theme for this month is “Celebrate in Style.”

There is a lot of stuff in such a small box! This box fits right into my mailbox, so that gives you an idea about how small it is. It’s quite impressive!

Tarte bronzing serum
Tarte bronzing serum

Of course the start item this month is the Tarte Maracuja Bronzing Serum. Wowzers! This is a large bottle. I’m totally happy about it because I love Tarte Maracuka oil. The stuff is not cheap, either. I’m not into bronzers, but it is said this just gives “glowing” skin, which I’m all about, so I wanted it. A lot of people complain about the scent, but I didn’t think it was bad. It seemed beachy to me, but I guess if you’re sensitive to scents, it could be a turnoff.

It seems super moisturizing, which is great! It doesn’t bronze immediately, so don’t expect that. Expect a little bit of a glow over time.

Two Beauty for Real items
Two Beauty for Real items

This month there were two Beauty for real lip products. A liner and a cream lip color. The cream lip color is wonderful, applies smoothly and is a very nice color. I didn’t think I’d like it from the spoilers, but I’m in love! The lip pencil is perfect with it.

See? It is super pigmented!

Mirabella Primer
Mirabella Primer

Another item in the box was a Mirabella Prime. I will use this, but it is not too exciting! I do need a primer, though, because I just finished up my full Benefit Porefessional. I love that stuff. I am not so sure about this. I have crater pores and I am unsure if this will cover them up enough.

Strange
Strange

These pur-lisse temporary tattoos seem really out of place to me. They even seem out of place for the brand. It just is so weird to me. I do appreciate the 20% Tarte discount, though! I will be taking advantage of it!

Overall, I think this was a great first box! I am staying subscribed because I am enjoying the items. I liked almost everything in this box and I will actually use everything. Yes, even the tattoos, but only to be goofy. I don’t actually think they suit me, haha.

disclaimer: I paid for this box myself. There is 1 referral link in the post.

Tester Korea Haul #1

Tester Korea Haul!
Tester Korea Haul!

Tester Korea is a really awesome site that sells a variety of Korea cosmetics. Along with Korea Depart, this is one of the two places I absolutely love to shop at for my K-Beauty fix. Since I shopped buying Memeboxes, I have more money I can spend on things I actually want, which is pretty awesome, eh?

I decided to place a small order on December 27th. My order shipped on December 29th. I got my order on January 16th. I just paid for registered mail, so that’s not a bad turn around time! Here is a list of the stuff I bought:

  • Banila Co the Black 17 Sleeping Pack
  • Etude House Pink Wish Tree 3 Lip Balm Set (Peach, Cherry, Strawberry)
  • Nature Republic Rose Mask Sheet x2
  • It’s SKIN Cookies & Cream Hand Cream – mint
  • It’s SKIN nail paraffin pack
  • Alicia Jelly Molding Pack

See? Very small haul, but pretty neato stuff!

Etude House Pink Wish Tree Lip Balm trio
Etude House Pink Wish Tree Lip Balm trio

I opened up and tried the Etude House Pink Wish Tree Lip Balms right away. My lips are a mess in the winter and these things are awesome. :3 Not only do I adore the packaging, but they’re also super hydrating! ^____^ And they’re a limited edition EH item! I couldn’t resist!

Banila Co. Black 17 sleeping pack
Banila Co. Black 17 sleeping pack

The Banila Co The Black 17 Sleeping pack is made with a “black food complex.” The side of the box shows the 17 different kind of black foods it contains, like seeds and beans. It’s pretty silly! But what is more silly is the texture! It is a thick gel, kinda like Jello, but not exactly. It’s too hard to explain, but it’s really fun! I used it last night and my skin looks pretty good this morning, so I like this product already!

It's SKIN Cookies & Cream Hand Cream
It’s SKIN Cookies & Cream Hand Cream

This stuff smells wonderful and looks really cool, but it’s kinda greasy. It does moisturize, but it is kinda too greasy for my liking. I will use the jar, but I won’t buy it again.

Those are all the pictures I took of my haul. Other thoughts I have: I tried the Alicia mask and it was really weird. It wasn’t smooth like other modeling masks I used. It had lots of weird chunks in it and didn’t smear on my face smoothly. I felt it wasn’t going to work, but it did. It firmed up and I was able to peel it off after about 10 minutes. My skin felt great, refreshed, but the chunks really looked nasty. It looked like someone had a nice, giant, chunky emesis on my face. Lovely~

So, there you go! Join me on my next Korea beauty haul~ 😀

Square Hue January 2015 Decades collection review.

Square hue
Square Hue January 2015 box

Square Hue is a subscription box that sends out 3 new, on-trend nail polishes each month. The cost of the box is $19.99 total, with shipping in mind. Right now they are doing the “Decades Collection.” All year they will have a new decade each month. This month is the 1900 collection!

As you can see, everything is packaged nicely in a small box. It is sent first-class mail, so I didn’t have to wait a decade to get the box, unlike some boxes I won’t name, that use FedEx Smartpost.

Gibson Girl, First Flight, Victorian End

The polishes represent the decade very well. My favorite this month was First Flight, the center polish. It really does remind me of an airplane, which is pretty awesome. I also really like Gibson Girl. I’m going to do a walk of shame, because I didn’t even know what a Gibson girl was until asked Google. *pout*

A gibson girl.
A gibson girl.

First Flight and Gibson Girl are creams. First Flight goes on like a dream, but I found Gibson Girl to be rather streaky and took 2 coats. Victorian End also took 2 coats, but it was much less streaky.

Swatches - Purple: Victorian End, Grey: First Flight, Pink: Gibson Girl

Overall, I think the polishes are pretty good quality! I got 3 days without chips from both First Flight and Gibson Girl.

The polishes are over double the size of Julep and I actually like these little square bottles better. I think they are super cute. They also have the date stamped onto the bottom. The price is $4 less than Julep, so you’re getting a lot more bang for your buck!

This was my first box and I will be staying for next month. I do wonder what the 1910’s will bring!

This box was paid for by Tako.

A new blog~

cutieoctopus

Blub, blub, blub, welcome to my blog, Octopus Allure! This blog doesn’t really have anything to do with them, but I really couldn’t think of a better name and this was the first thing that came to mind! I don’t really know yet what will be here, but it’ll probably just be ranting about my life and things I get in the mail!

Hopefully you’ll enjoy this blog! My name is Tako! It is nice to meet you! ^____^
